About the Project

Change Strategies is a collection of behavioural management programmes created within the Department of Social and Community Health at the University of Auckland. The programmes guide people who want to change their drinking, eating, smoking or gaming behaviours using planning techniques to help support them towards happier and healthier lives.

There were five programmes that required behaviour change manuals to be created to guide individuals through behaviour change techniques and strategies using engaging activities, visuals, and typography. The design challenge was to create distinctive programme manuals that represented the different types of behaviours to change while cohesively sitting within the overall Change Strategies collection of programmes. Strategic use of colours were applied to represent each programme and graphics were selected to appeal to users in a fun way, with a shift away from the medical approach.

The final deliverables included five behaviour change programme manuals and five menus summarising the strategies used in each programme. Both deliverables were designed for print and optimised as digital PDFs.
